Today I went to volunteer at Books for Africa with my good friend Ms. Heart of Georgia and Team Pageant! Well, its not actually called "Team Pageant," thats my name for it, and I think its catchy.
I had the opportunity to go there this past weekend and volunteer. We sorted and stacked books (and got a pretty good arm workout in the process). The workers there were so friendly and thankful for the extra hands; it was a great time and a very rewarding experience. To know that doing something so simple as sorting books was helping children to get a better education made it all worthwile

Anywho, Books for Africa is an awesome organization that works with Hands on Atlanta and companys all over the US to collect and send books to schools in Africa. The books are sorted by subject and grade levels and then shipped away. Books that they receive that are in bad condition are recycled and used to make more boxes to ship the books, so its very efficient business.
"The mission of Books For Africa is to end the book famine in Africa. With your help, we will help create a culture of literacy and provide the tools of empowerment to the next generation of parents, teachers, and leaders in Africa."
